Teams are tracking back on Lake Wakatipu this morning as the dark zone was lifted at 6.45. Six teams were forced to stop paddling last night at 9pm as lake conditions chopped up and others were held back at TA9 – Kingston Beach to stay overnight.
” It was a prudent decision to keep the teams off the water and they all had the correct mandatory gear to be able to stop, make camp and settle on the shore for the night,” says Race Director Warren Bates. Its reactively calm out there now and should be nice for a morning paddle up the lake to the finish line.
The teams who camped out were Pursuit teams, One Square Warriors and Worst Game of Tag, and Pure racing teams Rogue Four,Peak Endeavour, Team Assegai,Team Stihl.
