No more teams will be allowed onto the Tasman Sea to paddle the final stage to Kaiteriteri beach as bad weather is forecast.

Four teams are currently paddling down the shoreline but no more will be allowed to set off. This means when team 77 MD Outdooors reaches TA9 they will be made to wait.

The water will reopen at first light at 6.15am as long as conditions allow.

High winds of 35 knots are forecast between 9pm and 3am, particularly at the top of the park where the sea kayak starts.
